TODAY’S FESTIVAL RADIO PROGRAMME

Between 13H and 19H:

• interviews with Pak Yan Lau, Marie-Pierre Bonniol and other festival artists
• sound recordings of yesterday’s concerts and performances by Pak Yan Lau, Sandeep Bhagwati, Jean-Yves Bosseur and others

Around 19H:

• Mix of the results of the participants of the SITE SPECIFICS workshop by sound artist Mint Park and held at Musica in the week before the festival.  During the week before the festival, sound artist Mint Park will lead a Klankenbos workshop on sound art in the public space. With the sound of ‘air’ as a central theme; the participants will develop listening exercises, field recordings and small instruments to reveal the invisible textures created by shifting air and wind. At the same time, the man-made and natural sound structures in the area become exposed. The workshop’s result will be presented during the festival.

Around 21H30:

• Streaming of the second part of the Deep Spaces Series dj set, live from het Klankenbos. Deep Space Series is a podcast platform with a focus on deep psychedelic electronic music. Curators Hendrik and Ridoe present the programme from various musical hotspots (Kiosk Radio, Radio Ruit, Stelplaats). They also invite international artists from the ambient and techno scene to put together a unique set. During the Saturday night of OORtreders, they will take the audience on a 3-hour-long aural experience with deep sounds & beats in Het Klankenbos.
  

OORtreders Festival is a 3-day happening for art and sound, at a unique location in the middle of the forests of North Limburg. Visitors and artists both local and from abroad come together with a shared focus on sound and music. A sense of experimentation and adventure is a must here. This fourth edition, subtitled ‘Sound in times of fluidity’, reflects on a society where almost everything is in flux and refuses to become consistent. Throughout the programme, various themes are explored at the intersection between ecology and society, with sound as the primary medium.

The festival programme includes concerts and performances, talks, and an expo-route with sound installations that can be experienced in- as well as outdoors.

SOUND IN TIMES OF FLUIDITY

OORtreders Festival invites encounters that cross artistic boundaries and preconceptions. Together with a diverse group of critical voices, we explore the relationship between people, nature, society and space through sound, music and performance. In a fluid world that is constantly in motion, sound travels like waves through the air we breathe. The programme reflects on the state of the world today, and looks for alternative perspectives and possible futures.

The festival consists of three main parts: a live programme with music and sound performances, an indoor & outdoor expo-route, and a series of screenings, symposia, listening sessions, radio, labs and showcases that are connected to the festival theme.
