The Rat Hour Episode 9 The Shortest Night

Recent biological studies have shown that the fur of many nocturnal mammals, including rats, naturally photoluminesces. Under ultraviolet light, their pelts glow in shades of green, cyan, and blue, a phenomenon produced by compounds present within the hair itself. Researchers have wondered whether this hidden luminescence serves as a form of nocturnal communication, though its purpose remains unknown. June brings the shortest night of the year. At the midpoint of astronomical summer, the arc of the seasons reaches its furthest extension before beginning its gradual return towards darkness. We dwell in this moment of reversal, as the luminous nocturnal creature finds itself beneath a luminous night sky.
