In this episode we go back to the early days of 411 videomagazines. Triphop was a big thing. The slow and heavy drum beats where perfect for that typically laid-back skatestyle. We got familiar with Guru’s Jazzmatazz and producers where digging in the crates and sampling jazz breaks… The Infamous Mobb Deep was coming up in the East with their “gritty” sound and heavy basslines, the West gave us a more party vibe with a hardcore hip hop edge. A lot of skaters related to that kind of music and its “street movements”. IMO it was the biggest merging of hiphop culture with skateboard culture.
