We asked our WAV hosts a list of their favourite releases, labels or covers during 2024.
During the last week of December we will post them here in our news section. Enjoy!
Resident: Dj Shoplifter (Shoplifted / Radiaton Fog)
DJ SHOPLIFTER
Shoplifter presents Shoplifted radio show. Connecting the dots between atypical music and lovingly weaving together breakbeat, club music and UK influenced tracks.
1. Plateau' by Eden Aurelius (co:clear)
Insanely beautiful ambient and dub techno album that has a Purelink remix on it. It’s on heavy rotation; highly recommend listening to this one!
2. Lustwerk III' by Galcher Lustwerk (Lustwerk Music)
I’m very into the signature style house of Galcher Lustwerk. Every album is like disappearing in an imaginary world because of the warmth of their sound.
3. Cold Visions by Bladee (Trash Island)
No need to make big statements about this one; always fresh, always emotional, always spot on.
4. The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions by Vegyn (PLZ make it ruins)
An amazing versatile downtempo album (with here and there a more upbeat track) from Vegyn, an amazing producer who gathered some mindblowing collaborations on the LP. Lie on the sofa and let it play all the way to the end.
5. Dennis by Sega Bodega (Ambient Tweets)
Sega Bodega proves he is still one of the best producers alive with this LP that crosses the bridge between pop, trap and trance.
6. The Collective by Kim Gordon (Matador Records)
Raw energy!! Noise!! An overview of what is in a suitcase!! Everything I look for in an album and Kim Gordon sure as hell delivered.
7. Brat and it's completely different but also still brat by Charlixcx (Atlantic Recordings)
… no introduction needed I suppose. The regular brat album dominated my summer (… yours too I assume) & this sequel with remixes and added collabs made me go i n s a n e. Highlights for me are ‘Rewind’ and ‘Everything is Romantic’ with Caroline Polachek.
8. Vèjula by Merope (Stroom)
Merope is an amazing group residing in Flanders that make transcendental music for drifting away. To take away worries or for very slow Sunday mornings (or unwinding on weekday evenings…).
9. GTA by Fabiow (Wake Up Entertainment)
I’m breaking the album-only-rule for a local revelation that stole my musical heart < 3
