“Ik hou van theatrale muziek en zeker in video’s kan het voor mij niet ver genoeg gaan. Muziekvideo’s zijn superbelangrijk. Vroeger, uren lang zappen tussen Tmf, Jim Tv en Mtv. Nu, rest er enkel youtube en dat beetje tijd tussen de werkuren door. Ik mis de tijden van epische video’s zoals ‘Honey’ van Mariah Carey, met jetski’s en helikopters. Die zie je enkel nog in Korea of bij de echt grote sterren. Simpel kan ook, maar dan moet je clever zijn. Of eerlijk en bot tot aan de essentie. Een paar video’s zijn blijven hangen dit jaar.”

1. Reyna Tropical - Me No Quieres
Simpel en melancholisch. Om een beetje op te warmen.
2. World Brain - Network
Dit liedje gaat over het internet. Het lijkt of hij heel de tijd zit door te klikken. Op een bepaald moment vindt een ridder een ipad en trekt daarmee een selfie met zijn paard. Echt zalig. Leuk liedje ook.
3. Rosalia – De Aqui No Sales (cap.4: Disputa)
Big Budget weirdness. Mijn favoriete liedje van haar plaat kreeg deze mooie video dit jaar.
4. Le77 - Lunetz
Een super geslaagde ode aan de Beastie Boys.
5. Missy Elliot - VMA2019 Performance
Missy is god. Deze live medley van de beste video clips van de laatste 30 jaar is het beste wat mij ooit is overkomen. ik word hier emotioneel van.
6. FKA Twigs - Cellophane
Alleen Fka kan zij zowel opwinden als angst aanjagen.
7. Sheck Wes - YKTS
Ik moest denken aan de films van Adam Curtis, alsof Lil B mee zou spelen in ‘Hypernormalisation’. Zoals bij al zijn films weet ik nooit zeker of ik het wel begrijp.
8. Borokov Borokov (& Martha M) - 3:30 (Half Vier)
Elke video van BB gaat over de essentie. Wat is het om Vlaming te zijn. Wat is dronkenschap. Waarom zijn wij hier. Waar ben ik veilig.

“I love theatrical music and especially in video clips there’s no too much. Music videos are super important. In the past, I spent hours zapping between TMF, Jim TV and MTV. Now, only you tube and a little bit of time between working hours are left. I miss the times of epic videos such as ‘Honey’ by Mariah Carey with jet skis and helicopters. Nowadays, you can only see that kind of videos in Korea or with the really big stars. Simple is also possible, but then you have to be clever. Or honest and blunt. A few videos got stuck in my head this year. Here they are. ”

This song is about the internet. It seems as if he is clicking further all the time. At a certain moment a knight finds an ipad and takes a selfie with his horse. Pure bliss. Nice song too.
3. Rosalía – De Aquí No Sales (cap.4: Disputa)
Big Budget weirdness. My favorite song from her album got this beautiful video treatment this year.

Missy is god. This live medley of the best video clips of the last 30 years is the best thing that ever happened to me. This makes me emotional.

Only Fka can excite and frighten me at the same time.
7. Sheck Wes – YKTS
It made me think of the films of Adam Curtis, as if Lil B would perform in ‘Hypernormalisation’. As with all his films, I’m never really sure that I understand.
8. Borokov Borokov (& Martha M) – 3:30 AM (Half vier)
Every BB video is about the essence. What is it to be Flemish. What is drunkenness. Why are we here. Where am I safe.
