NO SHELL NO GHOST
NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE NEW EXHIBITIONS!
- MIRROR MIRROR – Fashion & the Psyche highlights the connection between fashion, psychology, self-image and identity, focussing on the personal experience of the body. Through visual arts and avant-garde fashion, this leads to such themes as body dysmorphia and the history of human replicas, including both dolls and mannequins, as well as cyborgs and avatars.
- Exploding Fashion: From 2D to 3D Animation follows on from a project begun at Central Saint Martins art college in London. The project investigates patternmaking in fashion during the 20th century and shows the important role played by pattern cutters. The exhibition moreover analyzes five historic designs by fashion designers who were also innovative pattern cutters. Those pieces have been digitally reanimated as moving images.
- The permanent Collection Presentation tells the story of avant-garde Belgian and international fashion, including selected silhouettes and archival material from the more than 35,000 pieces in the MoMu Collection.
