The show is about the music we read about, listen to online, the music we find in record stores and re-discover in our private collection. There’s no conceptual idea in the compilation we assembled, only a certain mood, and musical references will jump from one track to another.

Bache Jespers (Born in Antwerp, Belgium)

After his studies at RIKSO and Sint-Lucas he started to work for the fashion designer Dries Van Noten. Up to this day he’s still responsible for the visual imaging and music coordination.

His passion for music and photography resulted in long term collaborations with Belgian musicians. Bache delivered images for the artwork of among others Zita Swoon, El Tattoo Del Tigre, Flowers For Breakfast, Rudy Trouvé (Dead Man Ray, Kiss My Jazz, Lionel Horowitz and other Heaven Hotel projects), Admiral Freebee, Het Zesde Metaal, Maxon Blewitt, The Colorist Orchestra…

1 What was the first sound you remember?

A. The woodshop of our father, which was located in the room next to our bedroom!

B. I’m pretty sure it’s the same souvenir, or it could be also the sound of water (sea, river, lake, swimming pool, all kinds of water)…

2 And the first sound that you recognized as music, never to leave your heart/head again?

A. The old blues and Bob Dylan records at home.

B. There was Elvis and Buddy Holly as well.

3 What did you want to become as a kid?

A. I wanted to be a veterinarian, like most children did.

B. All kind of things… fireman, veterinarian, policeman, …

4 Who do you look up to and why?

A. Anybody who finds a way to live happy and generous.

B. Well said (idem).

5 Who should play you in the movie about your life?

A. Any actor who’s looking for a job at that moment.

B. Someone with the right humor & the same eyes.

6 What annoys you the most? About others? About yourself?

A. In general, I get annoyed by the ill-mannered behavior of people.

B. People who are pretentious, or always dependent on others.

7 Choose one superpower if you were a comic book hero?

A. I don’t know, I don’t think I’ll ever have superpower.

B. To make everybody joyful.

8 What is your trademark joke or trick?

A. Whenever I hold a guitar I most likely start playing Zorba Le Grec.

B. Making a Joke.

9 Did video really kill the radio star?

A. I don’t know, but if so, that’s ok.

B. Yes, in its time, but not so anymore.

10 Who are you favorite table guests, dead and/or alive?

A. Family and friends.

B. Same.

11 Where would you rather be right now?

A. The Bahamas.

B. Spain (Cadaqués) always works.

12 How close did you ever come to death?

A. I’ve been lucky and did not come close to death yet.

B. Not really did yet.

13 What is the craziest thing you ever saw on the Internet?

A. The answer to every question.

B. People watching the Internet.

14 Do you dance to your own music? Why (not)?

A. Yes.

B. I don’t make own music.

15. How often do you dance? Where and when?

A. I used to dance a lot, but it doesn’t happen so much anymore. Maybe once a week for a short time, at home parties or wherever the music is nice to dance to.

B. I try as many on home parties, concerts, at home for fun, whenever it happens, but it used to be more before. Let’s say once in a week or two. Evenings….

16. Embrace Today! But what genuinely used to be better back in the days?

A. When I see old pictures, streets looked much nicer with beautiful cars, beautiful people nicely dressed and lovely billboards. I dislike most of the street views nowadays.

B. Everything was more freely. (When big brother wasn’t that big as nowadays).

18 What is your biggest achievement?

A. Having a beautiful wife and 2 beautiful sons.

B. Having a great son, my lifetime career, and having found my way back to happiness.

19 What was your most shameful moment?

A. When I had to compose the music for an opera/operette, which resulted in a total failure.

B. That our parents “secretly” caught my brother Aarich & myself on photo doing some mischief and not so much later we found out on the family slideshow.

20 Are we alone in the universe?

A. Probably not.

B. Don’t think so.

21v Which habit do you want to kick?

A. Sitting on a chair for too long.

B. Avoiding to say “no”, but it’s getting better.

22  What should they play at your funeral?

A. Maybe some woodshop noises or old blues and Bob Dylan records

 B. Something that will be important for my family & friends. (It will probably be Bob Dylan “Abandoned Love”)
