We asked some of our residents and guests a list of their favourite releases, labels or covers during 2023.
During the last week of December we will post them here in our news section. Enjoy!
Resident: SHOPLIFTER (SHOPLIFTED / RADIATION FOG)
SHOPLIFTER
Connecting the dots between atypical music and lovingly weaving together breakbeat, club music and UK influenced tracks.
1. Simo Cell: Cuspide Des Sirenes
“What simo cell touches turns into gold”
2. Tristan Arp: End Of A Line Or Part Of A Circle?
“An album I keep going back to, whether it’s for radio shows or opening sets”
3. Hojo feat. Novolist: 16 O's (SPE:C)
“This is a recently released track of Novelist with Hojo in production. Apparently they produce in neighbouring buildings and decided to collab on this track Hojo was working on. Absolute banger and I will never not drop it in closing sets.”
4. Sully, Coco Bryce, Dwarde & Tim Reaper - Synergy
“Amazing EP of three UK jungle hotshots where they all gave their own spin to 1 track. Exciting to listen to!”
5. Lieftuig: VIP VA
“Very recent V.A. Release by the offspring of the Ghent based collective Grid that has only quality to offer, very happily paid for this EP without a blink. It’s pure quality straight out of our own humble Belgian soil. It’s all VIP remixes of original tracks by the artists themselves, what makes up for an interesting ride”
6. Jennifur: Things Don't Change
“Teenage energy is a track that randomly pops into my mind from time to time and that means I have to listen to it else I won’t be satisfied :-)”
7. ML Buch: Suntub
“ML Buch gets me through everything that happens in life and the new release delivers!”
8. James Blake: Playing Robots into Heaven
“No introduction needed for James Blake. Got introduced to CMYK and further work through my brother and discovered his early work later on. Can’t thank Maarten enough, his tracks are worth to me a lot. The new album was still so fresh and branded with his unique sound. An amazing listening experience.”
9. Agassi 93: Hyph Orbison (Low Orbit Radio)
“Very cool bootleg with edge-cutting breaks by a new producing duo from Ghent.”
10. Caroline Polacheck: Welcome To My Island
“Apparently Caroline Polachek is my most played artist on spotify (according to spotify wrapped) and I’m not THAT surprised because whenever I want to hear Desire, I Want To Turn In To You I just keep on listening until the album is finished. I never stop somewhere in the middle. You could call it a 2023 obsession.”
